Zeus is “not very good at Instagram” 🤔
By - WhatsaGime
Can confirm. I am one of the tearful doctors. /s
My doc always cries like a little girl when I take baby giraffe steps.
Why a flamingo analogy? Was she hopping on one leg pre-fusion?
That was an odd analogy.
The little dig at nursing was a nice touch.🙄
(the part about making sure medications were done correctly, etc)
Yeah, that was definitely a WTF moment. Ellen’s parents don’t trust trained nurses to give the correct medications to their daughter?
Having relatively recently managed hospital visits for parents, I think this is reasonable. A few of my family are health care providers and suggest 24/7 support for any inpatient hospitalization *where at all possible* for this exact reason. So, not to WK Zeus, but I don’t have a problem with her statement.
Also the, "we all remember when..." oh you can remember what like 3 days ago? Congrats that's called short term memory!!
Baby giraffe steps reminds me of Kat relearning to walk
I think of Kat’s ridiculous video every time I see a baby-giraffe-falling-over meme!
Can confirm, am one of the shed tears from the doctor reflecting on flamingo walking.
Someone take Dr. Flamingo Tears before I add it to my already long flair.
Are they happy or sad tears Doctor?
Wasn’t the last surgery so she could raise her hands above her head without symptoms? 🤔
I know I swear we have seen this exact pose after another surgery.
yes, she has an almost identical photo like this from after a previous surgery
ETA: November 2019 - https://imgur.com/RK78srU
I guess they figured it played well the first time, why not do an encore?
God, looking at that photo: did they bring their own string of fairy lights to drape around her hospital bed? For fuck sake.
But then her symptoms came back because Dr. Chop-chop is more of a money hungry butcher than a respected surgeon.
It's like deja vu all over again.
It weirds me out so much that she calls herself Zeus and her husband Wes
My apologies if this has been asked a million times (or if it’s a stupid question I should already know the answer to) but who on gods green earth is Zeus?!
Haha no it's very much not obvious. Zeus is Ellen's mom. Her real name is Susan, but Ellen gives everyone baby-talk nicknames\*. So Wes is her dad, whose real name is Les, and so on...
^(\*It now occurs to me that maybe it's not Ellen making up these nicknames, but her mom..... 🤔)
Thanks so much for explaining. I was so confused. Kinda still am because what in tarnation...? 🤨
Same, I thought Zeus was a dog or maybe Ellen had DID and Zeus was an alter . . .
That’s what I was beginning to think too!
I thought wes was the brother!!
Nol is the brother
The question still haunting us all is: who is ☎️
It’s family and I know they said who in a post. I’m just not that masochistic to go through their old posts...again.
When does that brace come off? I say never. So much of her identity is wrapped up in being visibly sick.
If she takes it off where will she hang all her zebra plush keyrings?
yeah her neck is now fused…but im sure the brace wont be going anywhere. she won’t look sick enough without it.
I'm too high for this comment 🤣🤣
Upvoted for flair
You’ve got good flair, too! I want to remember to say that the next time I’m distracted and spacing off.
I just choked on my goldfish crackers 😂 have some poor woman’s gold 🏅🏅🏅
So, did she keep that neck brace on during surgery?
Is she wearing a onesie
I believe you are correct.
That doesn’t even make any god damn sense in a hospital!!!! I’m big mad like imagine needing to toilet her!!
Yeah I have no words.
Hopefully its just a vest and shorts/knickers
So Ellen’s doctors pray with Zeus and they get tearful watching Baby Ellen? This isn’t even slightly believable.
Henderson does apparently pray with patients before surgery which feels ethically ick.
It sure does.
Plus he actually PREYS.
nah, Zeus's posts are way too coherent and focused
what a weird pic, it’s making her arms look all wiggly
also basically convinced Zeus writes everything now, including the gofundme
Her arms hyper extend which is why they look “wiggly”. She’s one of the few subjects who actually has hEDS (or maybe it was some other form)
Except she actually does have EDS of some sort? She’s very clearly hypermobile.
Yep but you can be hypermobile and not have EDS. It's very common in people who did activities like dance and gymnastics as children.
Did she just randomly copy and paste a bunch of inspirational quotes to the end of that last paragraph?
Pretty sure her nurses can do a good job of administering her medications correctly without Wes constantly hanging over them.
Plus it's pretty weird that he's staying with an **adult woman** all night refusing to leave her alone while in hospital.
Wes be like *”sure Z I totally slept curled up on the end of her bed the whole time”* nurses all chorus *”oh… yeah… yeah he was here the whole time, totally. The WHOLE time.”* Not Wes chillin at the hotel while his ADULT DAUGHTER is being taken care of by hospital staff like a NORMAL ADULT.
Tinfoil hat moment: Does anyone else ever wonder if the *true* munchie is Wes and there’s nothing wrong with him at all and his “weekly trips to the infusion centre” are just trips to the golf club, and monthly cross country weekend hospital trips or whatever are just trips to hang with Nol, but he tells Zeus and Ellen it’s medical shit to get Zeus off his back 😂
I thought it was an American thing adult parents staying with their adult CI kids 24/7 in hospital. Seems to be common at least in the CI community where visiting hours are for the normies.
still got that neck brace tho
what will it take to get it off her
Is Ellen the only subject who hasn’t found this sub as far as we know? And if so what do we make of that?
I can't even with all this talk about a grown ass adult being mommy's widdle hero for having 2 levels of their cervical spine fused and sleeping for 2 days with 0 complications. It's unreal. And people are actually buying it.
All for dropping all kinds of cash on surgeries Ellen doesn't need, when pathetically all that money isn't buying her anything close to the best. Smh.
Did they only go down to like C4? She was to like C2 originally I though so 2 more levels would just be C4.
That's what I heard from another user (c2-3, 3-4)
Her new post says it’s anterior but not what levels. Interesting thy didn’t extend. Most of the fusions in sections never seem to work well as the stability between the two fusions goes massively.
Seems a bit odd. Especially when doctors are start to find the shorter fusions for CCI in EDS patients aren’t the best.
I assumed it would be a posterior extension as well, so was surprised when another Redditor told me it was going to be anterior. Agree that switching over to a different approach mid-spine is a surprising decision - I assume there will be at least some degree of opposing forces.
I'm not going to get into all the reasons why the trend of overdisgnosis and overtreatment of CCI / AAI don't make sense. But it's pretty much guaranteed that anyone with an O-c2 fusion at an early age will need their entire cervical spine fused eventually, even if they don't really have a systemic problem with instability. Other levels aren't designed to handle the wide range of motion that the top of the spine is actually built for, but will try to compensate to some degree anyway. And they are far more likely to suffer the consequences of gravity, wear/tear, and stenosis - which is why fusions of those levels are common in middle age even for "healthy" people. With the added strain of compensating/overuse due to the lack of flexibility near the skull base, the rest of the cervical spine is f*cked. So it totally makes sense that they're finding the short fusions are a bad idea. It's kind of incredible it's taken this long to realize it.
She has confirmed it herself. I know she follows the girls who are fused head to SIJ so you would think she would learn from them segmental fusions seem to never end well as the forces above and below a fusion.
Yes, that’s accepted but that’s more a in several years (quoted around 10yrs ish by most doctors). The EDS community in the CCI group never even gets close to that more like 1-2 yrs.
It is a pity when an EDS patient does have legit CCI and will eventually (probably quickly) need their entire neck done just so their brainstem isn’t folding on itself from being poked by the dens. When it’s the brainstem being compromised and they are having central events and other brainstem issues it’s sadly needed.
Totally agree over diagnosis and treatment and can’t wait till it’s not trendy. People are doing in the group and just taking pictures of themselves looking upwards and asking if it’s CCI........... it’s a bit WTF.
I know in every other country the ones doing it are doing more like 1-2 people a year not a week or more! So it has its place but hell America makes it like any EDs patient needs it ASAP.
Yeah thanks to social media, trendy diagnoses, and greedy surgeons, something that used to only be done for trauma and rheumatoid arthritis is now almost a first-line treatment for EDS, as well as apparently now ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, and probably others.
Hold up, people in support groups are just posting pictures of themselves looking at the ceiling? What does that even mean?? This sounds like a cult.
Edit: oh are they like touching their heads between their shoulder blades to show hypermobility? Or is this something more "subtle"?
i’m just shocked zeus didn’t find a way to slip her previous cancer dx into this post too
She did slip and put her daughters correct name, Ellen. I mean unless they call her Elle for short?
The doctors teared up when she walked less wonky? Come ooooooooon! Think about all the intense stuff medical professionals see.
There's video on her own youtube of her moving about normally ffs.
Why are her armpits shaved if she wasn’t able to lift her arms above her head before the surgery though? Like they’re a little stubbly it looks like so that means they were likely shaved before the operation? Correct me if I’m wrong but that seems incorrect for someone who can’t lift their arms above their head.
Her mother was head her hair for her I wouldn’t be surprised if she helps remove any trace of adulthood by shaving too.
I literally sang this. Thank you!
Me too! lmao
Hey, what’s the story behind your flair?
Bee’s season of CP. She posted a video mouthing (?) a swab that was dipped in grape juice. She’s my favorite train wreck.
Oh, I finally saw that a couple days ago! That was fucking weird.
I was kind of hoping your flair was about somebody literally putting wine on a tampon and using it, or something like that. I guess this sub has broken me, because that was the first thing I thought when I saw your flair, and I wasn’t even shocked by the idea. I just wanted to know which munchie did it so I could go look it up and see for myself. I’m dead inside. lmao
I wonder if her onesie has snaps or buttons.
Snaps for sure.
How is it that ALL of these munchies have such emotional doctors & nurses? SMH.
Christ, the next post will be how the housekeeping staff was teary-eyed when Ellen got out of bed and sat in a chair so the room could be swept & mopped.
Is it me or does Ellen look super high?
Probably on painkillers post surgery
Idk, Ellen posts normally get pretty incoherent pretty quickly. Unless that's on purpose...
Yes and this one.... idk how else to say it but it ends correctly? Ellen usually rambles on and on and seems to stop abruptly in the middle of a thought, hell sometimes in the middle of a damn sentence. Susan's are more thought out and coherent lol, although Ellen's could definitely be done like that on purpose.
Ellen just rambles. Zeus has a coherent storyline with an ending and consistent punctuation throughout.
Yes the writing style is similar but not identical.
For two people who spend a lot of time together and probably helps definitely not surprising their styles are the same. I’m not convinced this is 100% Zeus. Though assistance is likely given often.
But Ellen sits in front of the camera and makes 30 minute vlogs for YouTube. We can't really put that on Zeus making the content.
Ugh the wannabe cross fitter checking in ... she has actually incredible upper arm muscles and I’m not seeing this super extended stuff everyone talks about ... it’s about half of all women I see and coach , but those biceps and shoulder muscles .. the pec and tricep band / and where the bicep and tricep meet is really hard to ‘Swol’ like this , and she has to be way more active than she is pretending .......especially for women... it’s a look that isn’t for everyone , but lots of women like the bulk strong look and you know you are getting close to massive swol when you armpits and muscle def in the bicep looks like this ... it’s not at all easy for women to get to
I have memory of a doctor pointing out a little extension in woman’s elbows is normal to his newbies. That it shouldn’t be counted towards hypermobility if it’s very minor. So agree on that point.
I hope this doesn't just keep snowballing for her. She seems like a good kid.
\*24 year old adult
She’s 21 turning 22
How old is she?
21 turning 22
"Wobbly, flamingo like" is exactly the type of 'terminology' my parents have used to describe the way I walk. Holy crap...
Better go see Henderson, stat!
I’m not familiar with the concept of re-swallowing but also have a distinct feeling that that’s a blessing
